Let me say first and foremost that I have never done a blog before, and so please stay with me as I learn the "in's and out's" of blogging. I will try to post as often as possible, but with busy travel schedules and uncertain wi-fi, I may not be able to update as much as I would like.
I was recently appointed President of the NMSU Christians United for Israel chapter (NMSU-CUFI). After attending an event held by NMSU-CUFI, I felt I needed to get involved with this organization. I met with the President of the chapter, Sarah, and expressed my interest. After graciously chatting with me for quite some time, Sarah told me she was currently in search of someone to take over the chapter, and asked me if I'd be interested. I told her I would pray about it, and after several weeks finally accepted. So here I am, thrust into this brand new world dubbed "CUFI" with nothing more than a chapter notebook and a CUFI booklet. But despite my lack of experience with this organization, I am so excited to see what God has in store for this next year. I eagerly await my time in D.C. and Israel where I will get to learn all about CUFI, what it means to support Israel as a Christian, and most importantly, I know I will see God work in marvelous ways.
As to the title of my blog... I searched and debated about a name for quite some time. But for those of you who know me well, creativity has never been one of my strongest points. I finally decided to go with the name Hineni (hee-nay-nee), which in Hebrew means, "Here am I!" The word also implies "search me." Isaiah 6:8 says, "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'"
For several years, this verse has been my constant prayer. I long to go wherever it is the Lord has called me, and I don't want to just go, but have a passion in serving Him. It is my hope and prayer that I not only serve as a representative of Christ this summer, but that I continue doing so for as long as I live. It is also my prayer that those of you who chose to follow this blog will be impacted by my journey, and that you will be drawn closer to our Lord and Savior as a result.
The first part of my journey begins July 20 in Washington, D.C. I will try to write a few notes and post pictures whenever I can. :)
"Hineni!"
Good job! Looking forward to keeping in touch and traveling with you via the net - Big hugs "sista" :)
